The Reverend Dr. Gilbert is a 20-year veteran in preaching and teaching the Word of God. Dr. Gilbert has been heralded as a passionate and anointed communicator of the Word. She is gifted and has numerous talents and uses them all for the glory of God in the local church community. She has been sought after by all communities of faith within the local church community. She has been invited and will travel to numerous United Methodist Annual Conferences to speak and teach the Word of God this summer. Dr. Gilbert answered to the call of ministry at a very young age and has served as associate Pastor for Trinity UMC and St. James UMC. Also, she served as a Senior Pastor of Disciples UMC in Houston and Senior Pastor McKinney United Methodist Church in LaMarque, Texas. She currently serves as the Senior Pastor at St. James United Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas. For two consecutive years she received awards for Evangelism and Church Growth. She has served on the District and Conference Board of Ordained Ministers, and was Chair of Clergy Mentors of the Texas Annual Conference. In addition, she has served on various boards, committees and taskforces within the Texas Annual Conference. She's a clergy mentor, serving within the Mentor for Clergy Accountability Group.
Academically, Dr. Gilbert has an impressive background.
Dr. Gilbert's educational background is diverse and encompasses degrees of many magnitudes. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Speech Pathology; a Master of Education in Education Administration; post graduate hours at the University of Houston; a Master of Divinity from the Perkins School of Theology; and a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Counseling from Cornerstone Seminary in Oklahoma. She is a Pastor in the United Methodist Church; School of Theology and a Doctor of Philosophy from Cornerstone Seminary .
In addition to being a gifted and anointed Preacher, she is an Educator and Instructor, Dr. Gilbert is a Certified Speech and Language Pathologist and has taught public speaking and speech communication at Texas Southern University in Houston and in the Houston Community College in Stafford. She has worked as a parent/teacher consultant for special needs children, and has provided training and needs assessments to various human resource agencies in the area of speech communication and conflict resolution. Furthermore, she serves on the board of directors of Back On track Outreach, Inc., a nonprofit organization which primarily serves the Harris, Montgomery, and Galveston Counties.
She currently has a contract for a book that she is authoring entitled "Recovery from Spiritual Stolen Identity."
Dr. Janice Gilbert is a native Houstonian and is the proud mother of one son - Ron Jedkins. With all of these accomplishments, Dr. Gilbert remains humble and prefers to be noted as a "Child of the Most High, a Teaching Preaching, and Servant of God!"
